(VOVworld) – Constancio Pinto, East Timor’s Vice-Minister for Commerce, Industry and Environment has expressed his appreciation for the Vietnamese government’s support for East Timor’s bid to join the ASEAN. In an interview with Vietnam News Agency in East Timor, Vice Minister Pinto said that Vietnam always supports East Timor to become a member of ASEAN and that East Timor wants to thank Vietnam for its continuous assistance. He said that at the 26th ASEAN summit in Malaysia in April, ASEAN members agreed on East Timor’s accession to the bloc and established a working mission to consider East Timor’s application.

Mr. Pinto, on this occasion, lauded the Viettel Group’s investment in East Timor under the brand Telemor. After 3 months of operation, Telemor has become the biggest telecom service provider in East Timor, helping to upgrade its telecommunication infrastructures, and generating jobs for local people.
