(VOVworld) – The European Commission said on Sunday that it had received no particular threat despite rumors that its headquarters in Brussels might be an attack target of jihadists from Syria. The EC currently has no plan to tighten security around its headquarters.

Belgian judicial agencies reported that the two suspects detained at Brussels airport in August had lived in Syria and were suspected of being members of a terrorist group. They planned to attack the EC building in Brussels and kill as many EC staff members as possible. Unnamed sources said the planned attacks could have been similar to the one on the Jewish Museum in central Brussels in May which left four people dead.
