Europe is once more a COVID-19 hotspot. The EC urged its 27 members to act quickly to expand rapid antigen tests despite current shortfalls in testing capacity in the face of a resurgence of infections. It also set out priorities in case of testing capacity problems.
The Commission suggested joint procurement of medical equipment for vaccination (vaccine carriers, waste containers, injecting devices, and disinfectants). Members were called on to establish national vaccination strategies.
