(VOVworld) – The Eurasian Economic Union hopes to sign a free trade agreement with Vietnam in the first half of this year and the document will take effect as soon as possible, said Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission on Integration and Macroeconomics Tatyana Valovaya during her Paris visit on Wednesday.
In a related development, at a Vietnam-Russia business forum held in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev said Vietnam has been given huge preferences in a draft version of this free trade agreement. He said the FTA negotiations are about to conclude.
In an interview Wednesday with Russian news agency Ria Novosti, Deputy Minister for Development of the Russian Far East Maxim Shereikin said Vietnamese and other ASEAN businesses are potential major investors in the Russian Far East.
