Egypt’s interim President Adly Mansour has approved an interim Constitution as a roadmap for the transition that will occur on the next 6 months. This transition will start from the time the Constitution is announced until the beginning of 2014, when a presidential election will take place. It will take 5 months to amend the Constitution and conduct opinion polls and 1 month to conduct a Parliamentary election. The new National Assembly has one week to fix the Presidential election date. The Tamarod movement, which backed the wave of protests against ousted President Mohamed Morsi, has rejected the new constitution approved by Egyptian interim President Adly Mansour. Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chun Ying at a press conference on Tuesday called on Egypt to restore law and social stability. The same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia supports Egypt’s efforts to end conflict and maintain social stability during the political transition. Lavrov also expressed his concern about Egyptian leaders being able to focus on solving regional problems during Egypt’s own internal crisis. Israel on Tuesday called on Washington not to stop its annual 1.3 billion USD aid to Egypt.
