(VOVworld)- A court in Cairo’s Bab El-Shareya district on Monday acquitted 169 supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi. The acquitted were accused of rioting, disturbing traffic, and violating martial law after security forces used force to disperse two pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo and Giza province leaving hundreds dead. On Sunday an Egyptian court convicted 126 supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood movement and sentenced them to jail terms of 10 years each for inciting political violence in Kafar El-Sheikh city last August. The defendants were also charged with belonging to a terrorist group. 37 other Muslim Brotherhood supporters, who were charged in connection with a bombing attempt at an underground station in Cairo, were given sentences of up to 15 years each.
