The two TV stations are the Turkey-based “Rabaa” private TV station and the Al Jazeera “Mubasher Misr” branch in Qatar. The Al Jazeera branch is accused of posting false information to incite violence in a scheme to divide Egyptians and undermine Egypt’s security. The TV channel is also facing allegations of offending judges and lawyers, and reporting the killing of Syrian children and calling them victims of the Egyptian Army.
The “Rabaa” TV station—named after the place where thousands of Mohamed Morsi supporters gathered in two months before being dismissed by force—is charged of spreading false news about Egypt and inciting violent demonstrations.
