Egypt: Five ministers resign

Five ministers of the Egyptian government on Monday tendered their resignations from Mohamed Morsi's cabinet, one day after a big protest against Mohamed Morsi was staged. Those who resigned were the tourism minister, the communication and IT minister, the minister for legal and parliamentary affairs, the water minister, and the environment minister. The same day, the main opposition Tamarod movement who conducted the “15 million signatures” campaign set a one-day deadline for President Morsi to resign. In its statement, Tamarod said that he must resign by 3pm Tuesday so that the constitutional state offices can prepare for a presidential election.
