(VOVworld) – Egypt’s interim president Adly Mansour said Sunday that Egypt will hold its presidential election before its parliamentary election.

According to the new constitution approved in a January referendum, both elections must be held within 6 months after the new constitution takes effect, but the order is up to the interim leader. The public opinion though perhaps the parliamentary election would take place before the presidential election. Analysts say Mansour changed the order to help ensure that Defense Minister Abdel Fattah El Sisi will win the presidential election.
