The sit-in protest killed 10 policemen and more than 800 Islamic protesters. The prosecution accused the defendants of organizing and participating in the armed protest as well as killing civilians and policemen. They are accused of carrying out terrorist acts which affected security, disturbed the peace, and opposed the administration. If they are found guilty, they face the death penalty.
