(VOVworld) - The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL), which is struggling for the restoration of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, has called on students to stage a demonstration on Friday.
In a statement released Thursday on the website of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Alliance appealed to Egypt’s student community to continue assembling in the streets to demand a restoration of the results achieved by 2011’s Arab Spring. The Freedom and Justice Party is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt.
Earlier this month the Egyptian Constitutional Review Committee voted in favor of all 247 articles of the final draft of a new Egyptian Constitution, completing the first step of a political transition following the coup that toppled President Morsi’s administration. But the Alliance has said it does not recognize the transition and will boycott a referendum on the new Constitution scheduled for the middle of January.
