(VOVworld) – Palestinians will be allowed to cross from Egypt to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing, but not the other way round.

Egypt will briefly open the Rafah border crossing Wednesday and Thursday, allowing thousands of Palestinians to return to the Gaza Strip.

The Rafah border crossing, which is the only current connection between Gaza and the outside world, was indefinitely closed on Oct. 25, after a Palestinian attack in the Sinai killed 33 Egyptian soldiers.

According to the UN, since the closure of the Rafah border crossing in October, more than 3,500 Palestinians wanting to return to Gaza have been stranded in Egypt and other countries.
