(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam-Egypt relations have seen strong progress in all fields over the past six decades, Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Huy Dung said in an interview on the state-owned Egyptian foreign language channel Nile TV, as part of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Dung said Egypt is an important trade partner and market for Vietnam in North Africa, with the two countries eyeing 1 billion USD in trade turnover in the future. He highlighted great opportunities for the two countries to boost trade, culture, tourism, and education cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Locality-to-locality cooperation has been promoted in recent years, said Dung. Vietnam's Ninh Binh and Egypt's Luxor have signed a collaboration and friendship agreement, and their capitals Hanoi and Cairo will sign an agreement in the near future.
