(VOVworld) – Chairman of the Egyptian Presidential Election Commission, Judge Abdul Aziz Suleman, said the result of Egypt’s presidential election will be officially announced on Tuesday.

The statement came after the election commission rejected candidate Hamdeen Sabahi’s appeal of the election result. Sabahi has accused his sole rival, former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, of campaigning after May 23 – the deadline for the presidential campaign. Sabahi also asked the Commission to nullify all votes cast on May 28. Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahleb said Sunday that he will step down as soon as the new President assumes office.
