The exercise will include the implementation of managing aerial combat and maritime interdiction and combating all acts of smuggling, sea piracy and illegal migration.

The drill takes place when Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi visited Athen on Tuesday to attend the third summit meeting with the leaders of Cyprus and Greece, agreeing to step up the fight against terrorism in the area.

Recently Egypt has enhanced joint military exercises with countries in the Mediterranean Sea to consolidate combat strength and prevent human trafficking.

In May, Greece’s Hellenic air force units performed in Egypt for the military exercise Horus 2015, where Egyptian, Greek and Cyprus naval forces conducted a joint practice drill in the Mediterranean.
