The results of the second round of the Egypt’s presidential election scheduled to be announced on Thursday have been delayed. According to the country’s official news agency MENA, the Higher Presidential Elections Commission said that some 400 election complaints had been filed by the two candidates, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Morsi and Ahmed Shafiq, the former Prime Minister under the ousted President Hosni Mubarak. The election commission was looking into appeals from lawyers of both candidates related to alleged campaign violations and disputed vote counting. It said it needs more time to investigate the complaints without giving a new dateline for the announcement of results.
