(VOVworld) – Thousands of Egyptians gathered in the Tahrir Square, Cairo, yesterday to urge President Mohamed Morsi to resign and demand early presidential elections. The demonstration was called by a number of opposition groups, including constitutional parties of former UN atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei. The Egyptians also rallied in the front of the Supreme Court urging to fully implement demands of a revolution. According to an official news agency, MENA, security had been beefed up around the interior ministry, close to Tahrir Square.
The same day, in the coastal city of Alexandria, hundreds of protesters marched to Qaid Ibrahim Square in support of the petition against Morsi, condemning the “Brotherhoodization of the state”. In the Nile Delta city of Mansoura, meanwhile, dozens of activists rallied in front of the local offices of the state security body, chanting against the Muslim Brotherhood and the Freedom and Justice Party.
