(VOVworld) – Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and 25 others will be tried for “insulting the judiciary”.

Attorney General Hisham Barakat transferred Morsi’s files to the criminal court on Sunday. Morsi, who was deposed by Egypt’s army, is facing separate trials for organizing a prison escape and murder of police officers during the 2011 uprising, for inciting the murder of opposition protesters at the presidential palace in 2012, and for espionage and conspiring with terrorists. Morsi faces life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted.
