(VOVworld)-The opening ceremony of the Eighth National Phu Dong Sports Festival was held today/ on Monday in Can Tho city. This year the Festival will last until August 12 and will feature athletes aged 6-17 from across the country, competing in several age groups for medals in 19 events including running, swimming, chess, Karate, taekwondo, and Vovinam… 

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan visited the water sports complex and stadium in Can Tho, where the opening and closing ceremony of the Festival are taking place. Nhan praised the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Training and Can Tho city in organizing the Festival for the last two years.
