(VOVworld) – Vietnam is very pleased to be entrusted by the ASEAN Working Group on Climate Change to draft the ASEAN Action Plan on the Joint Response to Climate Change.

Tran Thi Minh Ha, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, said at a workshop to enhance climate change negotiation capacity for Vietnam and ASEAN countries on Wednesday in Hanoi. The event was held by the Ministry and the United Nations Development Program and the British Embassy. Clair Etches, a representative from the British Embassy pledged to support Vietnam’s effort in climate change, to ensure sustainable socio-economic development. The workshop would help Vietnam and other ASEAN countries chances of success in international negotiations on climate change and increase opportunities to reach a comprehensive agreement by 2015.

At the workshop, the participants were introduced to international policies on climate change and negotiation strategies in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Senior negotiators will discuss issues related to meetings of the parties before taking part in the 19^th Conference of UN Framework in Poland.
