EP approves Free Trade Agreement with Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) -The European Parliament on Wednesday approved the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) with 401 votes for, 192 votes againts, and 40 abstentions.

Also at its plenary session in Strasbourg, France, on Wednesday, the EP approved the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) with 407 votes for, 188 votes against, and 53 abstentions.
On Tuesday, members of the European Parliament discussed the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, focusing on a 36-page report presented by MP Geert Bourgeois. The report lists Vietnam as one of the EU’s strategic partners. The EU and Vietnam share many goals - boosting growth and employment, improving competitiveness, fighting poverty, and implementing sustainable development goals – and share a strong commitment to trade liberalization and law-based multilateral trade.
