EP Election 2019: People, Socialist parties refuse to ally with right-wing groups
(VOVWORLD) - The European People's Party (EPP) and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) will not join forces with right-wing groups which are on the rise in European countries, their representatives said following the publishing of the midnight provisional election results on Sunday by the European Parliament.

Manfred Weber, lead candidate of the center-right EPP, said that those who want to have a strong European Union must join together, adding that his group will not cooperate with any party that doesn't believe in the future of the European Union. Meanwhile, S&D lead candidate Frans Timmermans, said he wants to work together with progressive parties to try and build a program that addresses the aspirations, dreams, and fears of Europeans.
EPP President Joseph Daul said that his party has won the election and that EPP lead candidate Weber will be President of the European Commission.
