(VOVworld) - The European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution supporting Palestinian statehood in principle on Wednesday, with 498 lawmakers voting in favor and 88 against.
The resolution stated that the EP supports in principle recognition of the two-state solution, and believes these should go hand in hand with the development of peace talks.
Earlier, parliaments in Britain, France, Spain and Ireland called on government to recognize Palestinian statehood to force Israel to resume the stalled peace process. Sweden’s government recognized Palestinian statehood in October.
