President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen applauded Vietnam’s swift and decisive actions to contain the spread of COVID-19, thereby successfully curbing the outbreak and minimizing deaths.
They said that over the last 30 years, Vietnam has implemented the Doi moi (Renewal) policy, normalized relations with the EU, the US, and China, joined ASEAN, and launched extensive structural reforms and a strategy of socio-economic development via global integration. These things have made Vietnam one of the fastest growing economies in the world, the two leaders said.
