The futures of the Eurozone and the Economic Monetary Union (EMU) will be the main topics of the European Union summit which opened on Thursday in Brussels. EU leaders will try to bridge deep differences over plans for a banking union and debate the controversial Security Systems Mechanisms (SSM), control members’ states budgets, and European Stability Mechanism (ESM) with its refinancing plan for weak banks in the region. EU leaders will explore a special mechanism for the Eurozone involves setting the bloc’s budget and treasury, centralized budgeting at the union level, an economic regulatory authority, and a debt fund.
