(VOVWORLD) - 31 documentary films will be screened at the eighth Europe-Vietnam documentary film festival which began Thursday in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The event, held annually by the European Union National Institutes for Culture and the DSF, thí year has 10 films from France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, the UK, and Israel, and 21 films from Vietnam. The films cover culture, nature, and the environment, society, the family, and homosexuality. Nguyen Nhu Vu, Acting Director of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, said the festival offers insight into other cultures: “Vietnamese and European films which have won international awards such as Oscar, Cesar, or Berlin are included. The Vietnamese films mainly promote Vietnamese culture”.
