Le Quoc Phong, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said at the opening ceremony that Sa Dec flowers and ornamentals are not only the brand of a key commodity in Dong Thap’s agriculture, but have become highly symbolic names, affirming the value, tradition, quality, and unique characteristics of this land.

Huynh Thi Hoai Thu, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said she believes tourists and the locals will have interesting experience during the festival.

“This is an opportunity for Dong Thap to promote and introduce the local image. Through growing, and trading ornamental flowers, we’ll facilitate famers to participate in tourism development,” said Thu.

She added that individual farmers have now reconnected and joined a community to grow and produce flowers and develop local tourism and economy.

Running through January 5, 2024, the festival will include an exhibition of flowers and ornamental trees from the Mekong Delta region, a contest on flower gate decorations, and a workshop on improving the overall quality of flowers and ornamental trees among other activities.
