Both victims lived in Washington state, which has recorded the most COVID-19 deaths in the US.
The first case was a 74-year-old woman living in a Seattle nursing home who was suspected of having the virus last Monday. She was immediately admitted to a medical center where tests confirmed that she was infected. The woman died a week after her admission to the hospital.
The second case was a blind elderly man who also was living in a nursing home. He had a high temperature last Thursday and later tested positive for the virus. He was admitted to intensive care but died in the hospital after less than 24 hours.
