In a joint statement issued after a virtual meeting, the foreign ministers of the five Arab countries said they had discussed developments in the mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt, Qatar, and the US that will lead to a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the adequate entry of aid into Gaza.
The statement also called for the withdrawal of all Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the beginning of the process of reconstructing this territory within the framework of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that US President’s ceasefire proposal was incomplete and deviated from the Israeli version.
A preliminary analysis by the UN released on Monday revealed that 55% of the structures in the Gaza Strip had been destroyed, damaged, or are at risk of damage since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted last year.
