Flooding kills 54 people in northern, central Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) -Severe flooding has left 54 people dead, 39 still missing, 31 injured in Vietnam’s northern and central regions, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has reported.

Property, crops and public facilities were damaged and losses are estimated at 5.2 million USD. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his deputies on Thursday inspected the recovery efforts in affected areas. The government urged local authorities to maintain around-the-clock duty, set up a command to lead the protection of the dam and dyke system, evacuate locals to safer areas, and ensure people’s safety.
