Food security tops ASEAN Labor Ministers Meeting agenda

(VOVWORLD) -Labor Ministers and senior officials from 10 ASEAN member countries for the first time focused their discussion on agricultural modernization and food security as they are meeting in Manila, Philippines, this week.

In light of the food security crisis impacting ASEAN countries, the Labor Ministers are expected to prioritize regional action on improving work skills, raising capacity standards and qualifications, technical and vocational education and training support.
Participants will discuss overcoming the pandemic, promoting inclusive and sustainable recovery and growth, and digitalisation for workers. They will review regional programs on skills development, digitalisation, climate change and green jobs, the changing world of work, migration and social protection. The meetings will highlight the need for more effective regional responses to unemployment.
There will be the ASEAN+3 meetings with officials from the Ministry of Labor of China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
