Five French citizens were among dozens of dual passport holders and the seriously injured who were able to leave the Gaza Strip, said the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The UK Foreign Office said the first group of its nationals in the Gaza Strip had made it to Egypt.
The evacuation of foreign nationals and the critically injured is part of a deal mediated by Qatar between Egypt, Hamas militants, and Israel. Palestine’s Ministry of Health said there have been more than 8,800 Palestinians killed, while Israel said more than 1,400 Israeli were killed, mostly civilians since the conflict broke out on October 7.
