Essid has the responsibility of forming a new government after political factions reach an agreement. 65-year-old Essid was a high-ranking official in the government of Tunisian dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and served as Interior Minister after the revolution that overthrew Ben Ali in 2011. Essid is tasked with forming a new cabinet within one month.
