The press secretary of the incumbent Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos confirmed the news report and expressed grief at the passing of the former leader.

Ramos was born on March 18, 1928 in Pangasinan province, north of Manila. He was a military leader, politician, and the 12th President of the Philippines from 1992 to 1998. During his term in office, he promoted tax and economic reforms that helped revitalize the Southeast Asian country’s economy.
