French Prime Minister Francois Hollande said the measures are aimed at improving current provisions to protect French citizens. He said France will continue to act in the respect of freedoms and will not infringe its principles by setting up these new rules.
Meanwhile, demonstrations took place in many Muslim countries and former French colonies in Africa to protest Charlie Hebdo's continued publishing of Prophet Mohammed caricatures. Prime Minister Hollande underlined that France has principles and values, in particular, freedom of speech.
