(VOVworld) - Presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron now seems to have the lead among other leading candidates. Macron's campaign has been boosted by backing from members of President Francois Hollande's government.

French Biodiversity Minister Barbara Pompili was the first government minister to announce she is giving her support to Macron instead of Socialist candidate Benoit Hamon. Pompili told France Info radio that she decided after seriously thought to back the candidacy of Emmanuel Macron. 

Shortly afterwards, Bernard Poignant, a close adviser to Hollande, said he was also backing Macron.
