(VOVworld) – Policy issues related to gender equality implementation in Vietnam was discussed at a policy dialogue on gender equality, held by UN Women in Vietnam and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on March 4 in Hanoi. At the meeting, some of Vietnam’s achievements on gender equality over the last five years were also highlighted. Participants also proposed some policy recommendations for gender equality implementation in Vietnam towards Sustainable Development Goals and comprehensive developments for Vietnamese women. According to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Ly, Senior Program Officer of UN Women in Vietnam, lack of accountability in law enforcement is one of obstacles to gender equality implementation in Vietnam. She said: We also have many regulations related to incorporating gender equality in law frameworks and enforcements, which has been issued. And in fact, these laws have been approved. Discussion topics also included gender inequality in leadership positions, social prejudice and social insurance for women.
