(VOVworld) – National Assembly (NA) deputies gave the nod to the general elections, the National Electoral Council (EC) and the revised Civil Code during their plenary session on Tuesday. They agreed that the election of deputies to the 14^th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils of the 2016-2020 tenure will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016.

They also approved the formation of the EC, which will comprise 21 members, including one Chairperson, four deputies, and 16 members. Legislators also ratified a resolution issuing revised Regulations on NA Sessions. Amendments to the draft revised Civil Code was approved during the session. On Wednesday, legislators elected NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung the new EC Chairman. Hung asked the deputies to approve the proposed candidates for Council Vice Chairpersons and Council member positions.
