(VOVworld) – German Interior Ministry said Thursday that it is extending border controls for further three months due to continued high numbers of refugee arrivals.

The ministry said it has informed the European Commission and members of the Schengen area.
The control will focus along the frontier with Austria which has agreed with Germany on the plan. Both nations have also agreed on implementing article 23 in the Schengen Borders Code on the internal border controls.
On Friday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated a warning that Turkey will expel 2.5 million Syrians who are taking refuge in border areas, adding that the Turkish government will send buses full of Syrian refugees to its European borders. Erdogan called on the UN to urge other EU member countries to help Turkey which is overloaded by migrants.
