Germany: IS behind New Year bomb plot in Munich

(VOVworld) - Joachim Herrman, the Interior Minister for the southern state of Bavaria, Germany, said police had indications IS was planning to attack two railway stations in Munich. Munich's main railway station, and the second station in the Pasing neighborhood, were evacuated, but have since been re-opened.

Six people were detained over a plot to strike Brussels during New Year's Eve celebrations as Belgian police arrest a tenth suspect in connection with the Paris terror attacks. The man, a Belgian national born in 1993 and identified only as Ayoub B, was detained following a search in the Molenbeek neighbourhood of Brussels.

A 25-year-old man accused of planning to attack a restaurant in upstate New York on New Year's Eve has been arrested and charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State militant group, the US Justice Department said on Thursday. Emanuel L. Lutchman, who claimed to have received direction from an alleged member of Islamic State, also known as IS, wanted to target a restaurant in Rochester, New York, where he lives, according to a criminal complaint.

Indonesian police on Thursday arrested three men with suspected links to Islamic State as part of an operation in the province of Central Sulawesi to capture Indonesia’s most-wanted man. The arrests came as the US embassy in Jakarta issued an "emergency message" for US citizens warning of potential security threats at tourist beaches on the island of Lombok surrounding the New Year's celebrations.
