(VOVWORLD) - The 8th National Press Awards for Party Building, known as the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards, were announced at Thursday’s ceremony in Hanoi.

2,200 entries were submitted to this year’s organizer, Party Building Magazine. From the 120 finalists selected by the preliminary council, 6 will receive A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, and 30 consolation prizes.
This year's entries are diverse in themes and genres, covering hot issues, outstanding events, and key tasks of the nation and the political system.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Vinh, former Permanent Deputy-Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Ideology and Culture, said that after 8 editions, the Award has become an annual forum to spread excellent journalistic works about the Party and political system building.
“This Award was successful with improvements in the quality and quantity of entries, which covers all areas of social life and highlighted role models, party members who dare and pioneer to take responsibility to the people,” said Vinh.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Vice Chairman of the Final Judge Board of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, said that the Award is an extremely prestigious journalism award, attracting a crowd of press agencies.
He added, “The works that win high awards are those which directly address life's problems, spotlight good deeds, and fight, criticize, and push back bad manner and habits.”
The awards have promoted Party building, cultural values, and the strength of the Vietnamese people in the cause of national construction and defense and international integration.
