Government solutions expected to guarantee growth targets for 2020
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Government has made comprehensive, drastic solutions to realize this year’s goals: COVID-19 containment and economic recovery and growth. This was agreed upon by National Assembly deputies after a two-day debate on the socio-economic situation and State budget.

Deputy Nguyen Duc Kien of Soc Trang province, chief economic consultant to the Prime Minister, said, “The Government’s economic revival strategy has two steps. We have done well in the first step of preventing coronavirus community transmission."
"The second step requires us to fine-tune our economy to participate in the new value chain created for the last quarter of 2020 and early 2021. We are expecting more hectic economic activities in Vietnam when the world economy recovers after the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
Deputy Bui Thanh Tung of Hai Phong city was optimistic about Vietnam’s economic prospects this year.
“Local authorities have insisted in maintaining this year’s growth target. Vietnam aims to record a 4% growth rate for this year, higher than the 2.8% outlook predicted by international organizations,” said Tung.
