Ways to boost economic recovery debated at NA
(VOVWORLD) - NA deputies on Saturday discussed Vietnam’s socio-economic situation and budget performance of 2019, approval of state budget balance of 2020, and implementation of the 2020 plan.
At the opening of the 9th session of the 14th NA, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pointed out difficulties since the beginning of this year and asked the NA to reconsider this year’s targets of GDP growth, budget, and public debt.
At Saturday session, deputies proposed measures to restore the economy because Vietnam is now a safe destination thanks to successfully containing the COVID-19 pandemic. Pham Dinh Toan, a deputy of Hung Yen province, said: "As budget collection shrinks this year, we need to strengthen forecast and inspection of the State budget and public debts. We need to work out measures to accelerate disbursement of public debts, promptly shift resources between sectors and localities, and improve the performance of State-owned enterprises."
Hoang Quang Ham, a deputy for Phu Tho province, said: "When the economy is declining, we need to promptly relax fiscal and monetary policies and restructure the economy because Vietnam is extensively integrating in the world economy. Policies on tax exemption and relaxation will work with operating enterprises while those who have suspended their operations due to lack of capital need other incentives. In addition to favorable monetary policies, it’s necessary to relax the time of tax payment until 2021."
The same day, government members reported to the NA issues concerning agriculture, tourism and culture.
