(VOVworld) – The government held a regular meeting for July on Friday where cabinet members reviewed socioeconomic performance over the past 7 months and discussed ways to achieve socioeconomic development goals set for this year. They also debated the formation and implementation of a National Target Program for the period 2016-2020 and a resolution to boost the implementation of an e-government.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that the past 7 months saw positive changes in socioeconomic development adding that it’s possible to achieve the set targets. He asked ministries, sectors, and local authorities to wisely implement appropriate measures and solutions at specific periods to achieve the set targets with the highest results. He called on related sectors and localities to address difficulties in production, enhance trade promotion activities, boost exports, and control import surplus in accordance with international commitments.

Prime Minister Dung agreed with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat’s proposal to review the acreage of protective forests in order to increase income-generated forest acreage to meet green environment requirements while increasing people’s income. Mr. Dung asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to consider opinions contributed at the meeting and submit a report to the government with measures to implement the national target program.

Cabinet members also discussed policies for the prosecution sector, and several important draft Laws and Ordinances.
