Green Vietnam Fund makes debut for sustainable wood industry
(VOVWORLD) - The Green Vietnam Fund was officially launched by the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST) and several local wood associations on Monday, targeting to facilitate the sustainable development of Vietnam’s wood production and processing industry.

Under an agreement reached at the launch in Ho Chi Minh City, timber enterprises are committed to complying with the regulations in import, export, exploitation, transportation, trading and processing of wood.
The Fund will be used for activities to change people’s awareness of forest protection with priorities given to projects on afforestation and protection of biodiversity.
Nguyen Chanh Phuong, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s Handicraft and Wood Industry Association, said, “It is necessary to raise the awareness of people, especially businesses about forest protection. Everyone must be aware of their social responsibility for protecting the forest”.
