(VOVWORLD) -Ha Long Carnival, the annual summer cultural event, attracted tens of thousands of people in Ha Long city on Monday.

Themed "Ha Long Dance – Convergence of the Five Continents", the Carnival tells a story of the city’s history, art, legend, and culture. The most anticipated activity was the street parade with vibrant dances by ethnic people of the Tay, Dao, and San Chi from the mountain districts of Binh Lieu and Tien Yen as well as dancers from Brazil, South Korea, Laos, and Japan.
Pham Ngoc Thuy, Director of Quang Ninh provincial Department of Tourism, said: "Carnival has always been a highlight of the Ha Long Tourism Week. It draws a big number of tourists from across Vietnam and foreigners. The event has created a uniqueness of Quang Ninh’s tourism. We’ll try to further develop it.”

The Ha Long Carnival is an opening event of the summer tourism season and celebrates the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Ha Long city, home to the world heritage site of Ha Long Bay.
