Half a million USD pledged for disadvantaged children
(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children called for businesses’ donations for children with special difficulties through an auction held in Da Nang city Saturday night.

A hand-made gold-plated picture of lotus and accessories made from Phu Quoc pearl were sold. Donations will be given to a fund to provide scholarships to children of soldiers stationed in Truong Sa archipelago and fishermen in need. Hoang Van Tien, Director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, said so far the Fund has raised more than 260 million USD to help more than 30 million disadvantaged children all over Vietnam. He added: “Through this activity, we call on businesspeople to continue to join the State’s efforts in helping Vietnamese children. Priority will be given to assistance for heart surgery and building schools and boarding schools for children in remote areas.”
At the auction, businesses committed more than half million USD to help children through the National Fund for Vietnamese Children.
