The event was co-organized by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the Capital's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023).
The books on display cover multiple fields such as history, culture, literature and arts, economics, and society. The embassies of Laos, Myanmar, and Italy have their booths at the festival introducing books of their countries and people.
Ha Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that since 2014, the Hanoi Book Fair has become a special annual event to introduce intellectual and cultural values of the capital Hanoi and Vietnam.

At the Book Fair, readers can also participate in discussions, book introduction events, and exchanges with authors and buy books with discounts of 50% to 70%.
The Book Fair takes place over the weekend at the walking space by the Hoan Kiem Lake.
