70% of Hanoians have been vaccinated with first dose against the coronavirus, including 96% of those over 18. Tourism companies, hotels, and transportation services are preparing to resume operation as soon as they can do so safely.
Tourism reopening will be closely coordinated with the Ministry of Health’s plans for co-existing safely with the coronavirus.
Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, talked about the reopening, “In October, Hanoi plans to reopen to local tourists. In November, tourists from localities where the pandemic is contained will be allowed to visit Hanoi. The city will open up further in December when the ‘new normal’ is fully established.”
The Department will focus on upgrading tourism services at heritage sites and craft villages. Travel companies will be allowed to operate short caravan tours for groups of travelers journeying together in their own vehicles to green destinations in Hanoi, including Duong Lam ancient village, Ba Vi National Park, and the Perfume Pagoda.
