HCM City partners with UK in building smart city
(VOVWORLD) - The Office of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Consulate General of the UK in the city on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in implementing the future global city program, which aims to turn HCMC into a smart city by 2022.

The signing ceremony was attended by Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, and Mark Field, UK Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific.
Mr. Tuyen said Ho Chi Minh City is calling for investment in sub-projects of a project to develop smart city and hopes to gather financial support and consultations from the UK.
He noted that the city is also implementing technological solution packages to deal with urgent matters in transport, health care, and urban environment, expressing his hope to learn from the UK’s experience in the fields.
Mr. Field pledged that the UK will continue to support HCMC in building smart city, especially in technological solutions to responding to flooding and smart urban transportation.
